SaigonTel to build Cu Chi science park

SaigonTel to build Cu Chi science park Saigon Telecommunication and Technology Corp (SaigonTel) has received an investment certificate to develop an industrial park in the city's Cu Chi District.

The HCM City Export Processing and Industrial Park Authority awarded the certificate yesterday.

The 20ha Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park will offer 11 ha of workshop space, and 6,000 sq.m. of roads and support facilities when it opens in May next year.

A healthcare centre and green space will cover 4,000 sq.m, according to Dang Thanh Tarn, chairman of Saigon Invest Group (SGI), the parent of SaigonTel.

The park will require an investment of VND400 billion (US$23 million). The workshops will meet requirements for hi-tech projects in areas including IT and telecommunications.

It will have an hygienic indoor environment and water supply system as well as a power generation system that will automatically become operational during blackouts. Tarn expects the facilities to attract foreign investors who will rent or buy in the park.

The Kinh Bac Urban Development Joint-Stock company, also a member of SGI, has managed to draw several major hi-tech projects, including the $5 billion Foxconn, to its Que' V6 Industrial Park in Bic Ninh Province.

Last month, the HCM City People's Committee granted a license for SaigonTel to set up a joint-venture with a Singaporean partner develop a 15.9ha Thu Thiem Software Park, which will require an investment of $1.2 billion.
