Group says home prices in Malaysia rise by 30%
Malaysian home prices have risen as much as 30 percent and will increase further on higher cost of construction materials, the Edge Financial Daily reported, citing an executive of an industry group.
Higher fuel prices have increased the cost of construction materials and transportation, causing home prices to rise, the newspaper reported, citing Richard Fong, the president of the International Real Estate Federation Malaysian Chapter said.
The price increase is "still going on," the report said, citing Fong, who didn't elaborate on the timing of the price increases. Developers' profit margins may drop 10 percent to 15 percent if construction material prices stay at current levels, the report said.
