Gold prices hit VND21 million/tael
Domestic gold prices on July 16 edged up to VND21 million/tael on a global market rally and news that the US dollar is weak and inflation in the US is likely to increase.
SJC gold was offered at VND21 million/tael in Hanoi, up VND140,000 compared to the previous day, while SJC gold hovered at between VND20.91-20.98 million/tael in HCM City.
Gold plates by Bao Tin Minh Chau Jewellery and Gemstone Company increased by VND130,000/tael to reach VND20.98 million/tael. Meanwhile, Sacombank offered its SBJ gold plates at VND21 million/tael.
Gold prices on the trading floors in the two cities fluctuated between VND20.13 and 20.45 million/tael.
The domestic price of gold is VND150,000 higher than the global price which closed at US$940/ounce in New York on July 15, up US$15 against the previous day.
