Domestic gold price edges up
Domestic gold prices yesterday increased by VND10,000-20,000 per tael (a tael equals 1.2 troy ounce) against late last week to about VND19.60 million (US$1,103), as gold inched up to $882.45 per ounce on the global market.
Gold traded at the Phu Quy Jewelry Co for VND19.54-19.59 million per tael and at the Sal Gon Jewelry Holding Co for up to VNB19.62 million, up slightly from last week's VND19.58 million.
Sacombank branded gold leaf was being traded at VND19.50-19.58 million per tael, while Phu Nhuan Jewelry Co listed PNJ-DAB gold leaf at VND19.52-19.57 million.
On gold exchanges, gold orders were matched at about VND18.93-19.03 million per tael with increasing volumes.
"I think the increasing demand for gold domestically will not last long as the current domestic gold price is still VND500,000 ($28.17) per tael higher than global prices," said Van Son, owner of the Dai Phong Gold Shop in Hai Phong.
